Tea Spotlight: Twinings Cold Brewed Iced Tea Collection

For the month of August, I pondered what teas I should try. It wasn't National Hot Tea Month (which is January) and it wasn't National Iced Tea Month (which is June) nor were there any special tea days to celebrate in August. But then I realized that August is the last month to truly celebrate summer, so why not enjoy some ice-cold teas; especially since it was still extremely hot outside. Thankfully, I found the Cold Brewed Iced Tea Collection from Twinings, one of my favorite tea companies out there, and I was able to quench my thirst during some hot summer days.

Twinings Cold Brewed Iced Tea: English Classic

The first one I tried was their English Classic iced tea and if you love Earl Grey tea with its rich bergamot flavor, then you will love this iced tea. As I was hinting at earlier, here in Jersey we had some really hot days that were just absolutely brutal. As much as I wanted to drink some tea, it was just too hot. Thankfully, I found this collection, and the English Classic was a perfect, refreshing drink during those humid days.

Twinings Cold Brewed Iced Tea: Mint

Next, I tried their Mint iced tea. Are you starting to see the method to my madness? Haha!

Now, I’m not a fan of mint at all. I can’t stand mint-flavored anything other than gum. It’s actually rather nauseating to me, which is kind of funny as mint is supposed to help with an upset stomach and nausea. I have to say, I wasn’t exactly excited about trying this particular iced tea. However, I am happy to admit I was wrong. This iced tea was so refreshing. Even on a cool summer day, it truly helped to quench my thirst.

Twinings Cold Brewed Iced Tea: Mixed Berries

The next one I tried was their Mixed Berries iced tea and this one smelled amazing, but unfortunately, didn't taste very good. The scent of the berries that wafted up once the tea bag had steeped in the cold water for about five minutes was just heavenly. However, its taste was a little disappointing. To me, it was too tart. I was expecting it to be more on the sweet side, especially since it has blueberry and raspberry flavors in it, but I think the blackcurrant and cherry flavors, which are more on the tart side, overpowered them. Plus, it's made with black tea, so not only are you getting some sweet flavors and a lot of tart flavors, but you’re also getting the burnt, earthy flavor from the black tea.

Usually, I’m good with this type of mixture of flavors, but unfortunately, not in this tea. However, I do want it understood that this is my opinion of this particular cold brewed tea. Yours may be entirely different. “Don’t knock it until you try it.”

Twinings Cold Brewed Iced Tea: Peach

Lastly, I tried their Peach iced tea and if you love peaches, then you will love this cold-brewed tea. I’m not a big peach person, but this was actually very good. I can imagine myself enjoying this on a very hot summer day. It’s not as refreshing as the English Classic or the Mint from this collection, but it’ll help quench your thirst.

In the end, I have to say that what’s fascinating with this collection is the one I thought I wasn’t going to like at all turned out to be my favorite, Mint. And the one I thought I was going to love turned out to be my least favorite, Mixed Berries. However, all of these cold-brewed teas are perfect to enjoy during the summer, especially during a sweltering summer day.

Please note I am not getting paid to review these teas or promote this brand. I am just a tea drinker enjoying some teas.
